08-09 Fiorentina home football shirt

The Fiorentina home shirt stands almost alone in the world of football shirts thanks to the Viola’s very distinctive purple club colours. These make for a very bold and bright home kit and Italian football shirt manufacturers extraordinaire Lotto have done a good job on this seasons shirt.

Lottos emblems feature in white on bold red squares on each sleeve of the shirt and the Lotto name is also branded on the chest, with the club’s badge on the opposite side. The gold lining is a classy touch. It starts from the rounded colour and continues with the thin piped lining going down the sides of the body of the shirt. Names and numbers for the shirt are also available and similarly they come in the same gold colour as the lining which is another nice touch from Lotto. Finally, shirt sponsors Toyota have their name branded across the middle of the shirt.

The club boasts a potent strike force in the pairing of born again Romanian forward Adrian Mutu and Italian target man Alberto Gilardino. Serbian midfielder Kuzmanovic is also a quality player and provides a real goal threat from the centre of the park.

Although failing to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions league this season, the club performed well enough to merit 3rd place in their group and to parachute into the UEFA Cup where they have been drawn against Dutch giants Ajax. Fiorentina fans should fancy their chances and few teams would want to draw the Italian giants in this competition.

Currently sitting in amongst Serie A’s UEFA Cup spots, the Serie A title looks to be beyond Fiorentina’s squad in this current campaign and some have suggested that their involvement in the Champions league this term has hampered their league form. Fiorentina will be hoping to push for a champions league place in the second half of the season.
