Liverpool football club, affectionately known on Merseyside as The Reds, is the most successful football club in England. Having enjoyed a glorious period of success from the late 60’s to the early 90’s, Liverpool’s history of dominance is unrivaled. Liverpool continue to build in their tradition of success every year by improving both in terms of the quality of the squad and results. Giants of the game like Ian Rush and Kevin Keegan are being reborn in the likes of Fernando Torres; Kenny Dalgish and Graeme Souness are seen in club-captain Steven Gerrard, and the defensive and fighting spirit of Tommy Smith and Alan Hansen is echoed in every time Jamie Carragher put on the red shirt. Without a doubt, throughout the history of the beautiful game Liverpool have added to sport in ways few teams can equal.
The start of the 2006 season saw Liverpool change kit sponsors from Reebok to old favorites Adidas. And Adidas did not disappoint. Adidas took a big leap in terms of style and creativity and released a home kit which was a welcome break from traditional, albeit quite plain, Reebok kit. It was in this kit that Liverpool reached the European Cup final for the 2ndtime in three years, disappointingly losing out on the trophy 2-1 to 2005 runners-up to Liverpool, A.C. Milan. It was in this shirt that Fernando Torres scored his first goal for the club against Chelsea in front of the Kop. Certainly this is one item that no supporter should be without.
The 2006/2008 Adidas home kit remains the traditional Red that Liverpool have worn since the mid-50’s.
Adidas have crafted the shirt in a way that both honors the tradition and quality synonymous with the club. The collared shirt gives a look of superiority. Particular attention to detail is paid to the chest. Outlined in white trim the striped material pays tribute to the Liverpool team who won the European Cup in 1984. Equipped with the latest Climacool technology, Adidas have overlooked nothing in designed an iconic kit.
It won’t be long before these fantastic kits are a thing of past – make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to own with.
