Tottenham began the new season in superb style as they took all three points in a 2-1 win against Rafa’s Reds. A wondrous first goal from Benoit Assou-Ekotto came just before the break after Tom Huddlestone fired a free kick into the Liverpool wall. Liverpool equalized nearly at the hour mark as new signing Glen Johnson was taken out in the box by Spurs keeper Huerelho Gomes and the Reds were rewarded with a penalty kick. It only took 3 minutes, however, for Spurs to take the lead again through Sebastien Bassong’s header from Luka Modrić’s free kick.

Redknapp’s men played very up-beat and lively, they completely outclassed Liverpool and fully deserved the three points. The lads were brilliant on the back line, strong in the midfield, and the attack was looking sharp. All of Spurs’ passes were connecting perfectly and they seemed to shut down Liverpool, who looked a bit flustered and barely got any shots off at all without the help of their free kicks and penalties.

The Reds took a little knock in the first half as two of their players, Martin Škrtel and Jamie Carragher, took a nasty collision in the air. Carragher was patched up and sent back out, and although he made it to nearly the end of the game, Škrtel looked to be in constant pain. Pepe Reina earned his pay as he did brilliantly to save shot after shot from Robbie Keane and others for Spurs, and was likely the best player on the pitch for Liverpool. Spurs new signing, Sebastien Bassong, bagged a debut goal, and Peter Crouch got in a good 20 minutes on his debut; however, Kyle Naughton featured merely on the sub list.

Harry of course had praise for his squad after the match. He said, “It was deserved. Last season we beat them, I’d just arrived and I admitted at the time I didn’t quite know how we beat them, they battered us. This time, we were the better team and we deserved that win. I thought we outplayed them. The key was being able to hit back again after they equalized.” He continued, “Normally with a team like Liverpool if you go 1-0 up and then they make it 1-1, the momentum shifts and you would fancy them to go on and win. But we came back at them again and we had another couple of great efforts that the keeper did well to save. Sebastien produced a great header to win it and I’m delighted with him, he has the potential to be a top, top player.”

Rafa Benitez was, naturally, ever quite the opposite as the North Londoners toyed with their nerves. Since The Reds first laid eyes upon the Premier League trophy, they have said “this season could be their season”. However, their start hasn’t gone quite as they planned.

As for Tottenham’s first goal scorer, Benoit, he is delighted with his goal as it is his first goal on senior level. After 64 appearances in Spurs colors and 88 for FC Lens in France without scoring, he is ecstatic and naturally is hoping for more to come this season! In an after match interview, he said, “It was a good goal against a good team and we played well, hopefully we can play like that for the rest of the season. We had the free-kick, Tom was feeling good so I said ‘okay, you shoot’ and when the ball came back to me I tried a shot, it went in and it felt good. The sensation was strange, but very good. I hope I have the same sensation again this season!”

So, Spurs continue their new season campaign away to Hull on Wednesday and then away to West Ham on Sunday. Surely Spurs will have a bright season ahead of them.

Jill Guthrie

Led by David Moyes, Everton is a squad that has been built around home-grown talent emerging from Everton’s academy, and shrewd transfer moves that have added depth and talent. The team has played at historic Goodison Park since 1892, a home ground which boasts impressive attendance figures every match, and are best known for their nicknames ‘the Toffees’ and more recently, “The People’s Club”. How do you become a Toffeeman? Simple: buy an Everton FC kit from UKsoccershop!

The shirt is white around the neck in a shape that resembles the look of a folded-down polo collar, and there are thin white ‘boomerangs’ on the sides of the shirt beside the sleeves. These white touches continue on the back, where two thin white strips run down from the shoulder to the upper back of the kit, and a third bit of white is found in the middle of the shirt about ¾ of the way down. Several darker, subtle blue lines run from the white bits at the top and meet at the lower white piece. The sleeve ends have very thin white bands at the tips. Finally, the Umbro logo is white and found at the top right of the front of the shirt, and on the opposite side is the bold Everton crest. The sponsor’s logo and text are white and found in the centre of the kit. All of these details combine to make a very striking kit that has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

Having enjoyed a glorious period of success from the late 60’s to the early 90’s, Liverpool’s history of dominance is unrivaled. Liverpool continue to build in their tradition of success every year by improving both in terms of the quality of the squad and results. Giants of the game like Ian Rush and Kevin Keegan are being reborn in the likes of Fernando Torres; Kenny Dalgish and Graeme Souness are seen in club-captain Steven Gerrard, and the defensive and fighting spirit of Tommy Smith and Alan Hansen is echoed in every time Jamie Carragher put on the red shirt. Without a doubt, throughout the history of the beautiful game Liverpool have added to sport in ways few teams can equal.

The start of the 2006 season saw Liverpool change kit sponsors from Reebok to old favorites Adidas. And Adidas did not disappoint. Adidas took a big leap in terms of style and creativity and released a stunning yellow away kit. Certainly this is one item that should no supporter should be without.

The 2006/2007 Liverpool away keeper kit from Adidas is a creative and stylish offering. The bright canary yellow coloring is a throwback to great Liverpool teams of the past. Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes and Ian Rush all wore the yellow shirt with pride. Adidas have gone a step further and made a very attractive shirt. As in the home kit, both quality and detail are poured into the kit. This is recognizable on the subtly striped chest of the shirt which is highlighted in red trim and decorated with the sponsor’s logo in green. This yellow shirt is not only an icon of the past but a celebration of Liverpool’s glorious present.

It won’t be long before these fantastic kits are a thing of past – make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to own with. With a selection of pre-printed shirts along with UKSoccerShop.com’s personalized printing there is no limit to how you choose to commemorate this memorable time in the Red’s history.

Liverpool can also boast am impressive history of great keepers. From Ray Clemence and Bruce Grobbelar, to Istanbul hero Jerzy Dudek and down to current number 1 Pepe Reina, behind their back four Liverpool have always had a trustworthy guardian between the posts. With Reina having already received 3 Barclays Premier League Golden Glove awards, the future of Liverpool’s last line of defense looks bright for years to come.

The 2008-2009 Liverpool Keeper home jersey is a tremendous offering from Adidas. The direct and straightforward style is immense in presentation. The black base color is contrasted in bright red by the trademark Adidas 3-stripe and triangular neck markings. Lining the inner sides are more red dots which add style and detail to this already impressive kit. Adidas has managed to create a shirt that is as intimidating as it is stylish. Few would fancy their chances when, upon approaching the Kop end goal at Anfield, they look up and see Liverpool’s keeper adorned in this imposing attire.

Few keeper shits have been as attractive as the current Liverpool keeper shirt. As these are always limited, don’t miss out on the opportunity to have one of the best offerings from Adidas in quite some time. And with UKSoccerShop.com’s official shirt printing, you can proudly of Liverpool’s current and future greats name on your back, or customize however you like.

Liverpool Football club have without a doubt established themselves as the Emperors of European Football. Not only the single most successful football club in English history – they are also the most successful English club in the European competition. In fact, only two clubs can boast more possessing more European Cups than Liverpool – Real Madrid and A.C. Milan.

Liverpool won their 5th and latest European Cup title against Italian heavyweights A.C. Milan in what is considered by many to be greatest final ever contested in the history of the competition. Since that memorable night in Istanbul Liverpool have gone to be powerhouses of the European competition – reaching 2 finals and a semi-final of the tournament. Without a doubt Liverpool are one of the most feared clubs in the European scene.

The 2007-2008 season provided one of the most exciting and nerve-racking Champion’s League campaigns in Liverpool’s history. With 3 lackluster performances in the first part of the group stage earning a draw at Porto, a loss at Anfield to Marseille, and a loss in Turkey to Besiktas, Liverpool found themselves in a precarious position. Needing nothing short of a win in the next three group matches – Liverpool found themselves in a do-or-die situation – the type of situation where they are most likely to shine.

The 2007-2008 Liverpool 3rdkit is an only an attractive offering from Adidas. The kit, with it’s rich black base color, is a great reminder of the highs and lows of that memorable season. Highlighting the kit is a creative red line coming down from the neck running along the top of the chest to the left side of the garment. This style is repeated on the back of kit, highlighting then name and number of the wearer. Not only stylish, Adidas has used this as part of the Climacool technology which makes the shirt functionally sound.

Adidas took a big leap in terms of style and creativity and released a home kit which was a welcome break from traditional, albeit quite plain, Reebok kit. It was in this kit that Liverpool reached the European Cup final for the 2ndtime in three years, disappointingly losing out on the trophy 2-1 to 2005 runners-up to Liverpool, A.C. Milan. It was in this shirt that Fernando Torres scored his first goal for the club against Chelsea in front of the Kop. Certainly this is one item that no supporter should be without.

The 2006/2008 Adidas home kit remains the traditional Red that Liverpool have worn since the mid-50’s.

Adidas have crafted the shirt in a way that both honors the tradition and quality synonymous with the club. The collared shirt gives a look of superiority. Particular attention to detail is paid to the chest. Outlined in white trim the striped material pays tribute to the Liverpool team who won the European Cup in 1984. Equipped with the latest Climacool technology, Adidas have overlooked nothing in designed an iconic kit.

It won’t be long before these fantastic kits are a thing of past – make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to own with. With a selection of pre-printed shirts along with UKSoccerShop.com’s personalized printing there is no limit to how you choose to commemorate this memorable time in the Red’s history.
